Garden getting full

We got a couple of tomato plants, a pepper plant, a couple of zucchini plants and a basil plant today at the Market. I think it's official that our garden is full! I cut some of the lettuce for our salad tonight. I planted beets a couple of weekends ago and I've never planted beets so I've been trying to read up on them. I was thinking I would have to thin them, which I do but I didn't know that beet greens are tasty. So tonight's salad will have beet greens.















While thinning the beets I noticed that the aphids have moved in. I told Waymond we needed an army of ladybugs to feast on all the aphids. The bad news is that I had already planted the basil before I noticed the aphids and I know how much aphids love basil. Hopefully the neighborhood ladybugs find their way to our garden and enjoy the buffet of aphids BEFORE the aphids find and devour the basil!

I separated my onions this last week and we are going to have a ridiculous amount of onions if they all produce. I ended up planting many of them on the side (above) next to the flowers because I ran out of space in the garden proper!













Waymond made this lovely trellis for me today so our snap peas will have something to grow up on. I think he enjoyed getting out his table saw and ripping down the wood and then getting out his finish nailer to nail it all together. He hasn't had many opportunities to use his tools since starting his new job. I really like it, it is different than any other trellis you just pick up at Home Depot.
















Oh, we bought some sweet potato vines from Burpee. They finally came in the mail on Friday evening and we got them in the ground. They are looking a bit wilty so I hope they make it. There is a note with the plants when I got them that said don't worry if they look wilted or yellow because they should come back. We'll see. I planted them in an area where they get lots of sun and especially the hotter afternoon and evening sun. I am open to suggestions because I've never grown sweet potatoes!

To Market

Went to the Proctor Farmer Market again this morning. We got a couple of broccoli plants, a couple of celery plants, a cauliflower plant, several beet plants and an edible flower (I cannot remember the name). We found this guy at the Proctor Market who sales his plants for a $1 a plant. Pretty soon our veggie garden will be full.

I ordered some sweet potato plants from Burpee this afternoon. I couldn't find any around here and a couple of sites I saw on the web said to be careful to get the edible ones and not just ornamental vines. Since I am a complete beginner I thought I should order ones that I know are edible. We'll see how well they do!

I forgot to add the picture of the hostas we planted last weekend. I'm really excited about these.














Oh, and the ground cover I planted before winter is doing well. Apparently it can grow in Washington State as well as Oklahoma! Thanks for sending it dad!

Way's new office space

Here's a pic of Waymond's new office space. They are trying to save a bit of money and downsized the office a bit - so no private office anymore. But, now he's out with the others and can chit chat during the day. And, he can turn around and look at the parking lot any time he wants!

Day off

I had the day off today and believe it or not is was warm and sunny! I got to spend a bit of time outside weeding. It was nice and warm. I think one of my arms got a bit of a sun burn, it hadn't seen the sun in months!
