Roller skating
The boys were off school on Friday. Lillie and I took them roller skating (their newest favorite past time). They skated for THREE hours! Lillie and I watch from a booth in the snack area.
I felt accomplished because I fed her there without flashing anyone and changed a couple of dirty diapers...all at that snack booth! Its not a baby friendly place.

3 weeks today
Today Lillie is 3 weeks old! It really has gone by so quickly (and yet painfully slow at night)!
Yesterday was my official due date, and I must say that I'm glad I'm not starting over with a new born tonight (or pushing out a 9lb baby). She is almost at the point where she can go three hours without eating. I'll take that over two hours; we are making progress!
Here's a little video of her gassy faces. She's just so cute (bias I know). Isayas loves it when she makes the "smiley" gas face. He gets so excited, "mom, she smiled at me!" I haven't burst the bubble yet for him, he doesn't know its just gas.

Hands free
When not being swaddled Lillie likes to have her hands up. I can't imagine that this is comfortable, but maybe it's how she was in the womb...she loves it. The bad part is, she still doesn't realize those hands belong to her. She often pops herself in the face and then looks distraught.
When swaddled, she likes to work really hard to get her hands free. We've been calling her Houdini, because she is amazing at it. Can you see her hand to the right? Sooner or later both hands are at least peeking out the top of her swaddle blankets and this one is a good Velcro one.

Big brother
Isayas is way more into Lillie than Ermias. Isayas loves to talk with her and try to get her to stop crying. However, he talks to her like she is hard of hearing. I usually have to tell him that he doesn't have to talk so loud. I don't know if he thinks that if he talks louder she'll understand? Maybe they experienced that when they were first home!
He will often read to her as well. When she was on the light bed for the jaundice Isayas read to her a book about Star Wars. He said to me, "mom can you turn her head so she can see the pictures while I read?" I tried to explain to him that she couldn't see the pictures and would probably get mad if I turned her head. I told him, "she will just enjoy the sound of your voice." And, that was good enough for him!
Ermias acknowledges her existence and then moves on. He does think it's cool that she has such a strong grip and can pull his finger around. I think he's had less experience with babies; he was the baby in both of his families until now! That's tough on a kid, but he's handling it well!

First Bath

Lillie had her first bath the other day, and she did not like it! It could have been the fact that her parents had never given an infant a bath before and they are just bad at it. Not sure.
I love a good bath, so I'm hoping that we either get better or she starts enjoying herself. We'll be trying again tomorrow.
In the end she didn't mind the drying off part with a warm towel.
