the 3rd

Oh, the things a third child experiences early!!
Isayas wanted Lillie to wear the Batman mask, but it was far too big, sad!

Rolling

Lillie is 6 months now and this is as close to rolling over as she gets.
We keep trying, but she won't go all the way over!

Play time

We went to a PlayMobile play time at our local toy store and they had this big guy.
Ermias REALLY wanted to take the sword home.

Silly brother

Since Ermias is in summer school in the mornings this month, Isayas has been enjoying some time with his sister. He wanted to pretend to feed her.
She thought he was out of his mind (and you can tell by the look on her face)!
I'm reading this look as, "Mom, I can't believe you are letting him do this!"

What's normal?

Since we are new at having an infant, we really have no idea what "normal" is. But for Lillie, I think normal is going to be sitting up all by herself before she rolls over...I cannot get this girl to roll over. She is on her belly most of her waking (minus eating) day. This last week we tried a bit more back time to see if she prefers rolling from back to belly...nothing. She does, however, love to try to sit up on her own. She can do a few seconds at a time. I'm sure her cloth diaper helps make a nice wide base to sit on.

The corn

The corn is getting bigger and bigger. Isayas checks on it daily (at least) and has reported that "some little corn things" are growing on the inside. He told everyone and we all had to come and check it out. So, I'm hoping we'll have at least a couple of ears of corn before it gets cold and rainy again!

New noises

Lillie has a new scream that she randomly likes to test out. Of course, the boys think she is the funniest thing ever. And, honestly, this video doesn't do it justice. She's really loud. After I took this video Isayas came in and said, "Mom, I could hear Lillie all the way in the garage." She's loud and she loves it!

Revisit of carrots

Lillie tried carrots again this week. I mixed it with a lot more breast milk to help the texture for her.

She liked the burp cloth the best.

 Funny faces with Ermias.
Overall, she ate way more this time, but I wouldn't say she is a fan quite yet.

Happy 4th

We spent the 4th outside the city limits at a friend's house so the boys could experience fireworks, well minimal fireworks!
Mainly they had sparklers, but they thought they were awesome.

Me and Lillie just hung out.

The tiny pool

We've had some pretty hot days (for us). The boys got out our tiny pool and were cooling off. I thought Lillie (who is a NW baby and sweats when its barely 80 degrees) would like it. Apparently it was icy water because Lillie cried as soon as her toes touched the water. Waymond said, "if this were a scooby doo cartoon my legs would have ice cubes on them." Lillie and I watched from the porch while the boys and Waymond played.

Ermias' corn

Ermias has wanted to plant corn in our garden for awhile; they grew corn in Ethiopia and he has fond memories. This year we decided that with a newborn our garden would be scaled back, so we got Ermias some corn seeds. His corn is doing REALLY well. It gets taller every day (this picture is about a week old). The boys earn time for their video games by watering the garden...the corn is getting plenty of water!!

Reading

In order to get our boys to consistently read this summer I have struck a deal with them. If they read for at least 20 minutes per day at the end of each month I will take them to the doughnut shop and they can pick which ever doughnut they want.

June was a success! And both boys picked the biggest doughnut in the place. However, they did not get to eat it all in one setting; I didn't want it to come back up.

Dad in training

We are starting him with something unbreakable!
He honestly would love to carry his sister around if we let him!!
