Our trash can potatoes are doing so well. We added more dirt last night. Our Yukon Gold are shooting up. I'm so looking forward to the end of the season when we turn the trash can over and pull out all the potatoes. These photos just don't do them justice! 
Here's Waymond holding one of our cabbage sprouts. I read online that if you leave your big leaves on your cabbage plant after you've cut the main cabbage head then cabbage sprouts will grow. We have about three or four so we decided to cut one tonight and see what it was like. I'm not exactly sure what you are suppose to do with them. I'm assuming you use it like you would a regular head of cabbage. Not sure! I thought about making tuna fish salad and having the cabbage sprouts as wraps. I'll let you know.
We harvested our first two zucchinis last night. We haven't eaten them yet, but I'm eager to try them. I think by the end of the season we won't want any zucchini for a while. We only have two plants and already they are producing like crazy. I'll be able to pick several more in the next couple of days and there are a ton of blooms still. I'm not sure us and the Studer's are going to eat that many zucchini. I'll need a good zucchini bread recipe. Mom, you got one? I know you have experience in this field.
Well, tonight was harvest day for the broccoli plants. I feel like our plants have grown so quickly. We cut both broccoli plants. I think Waymond is looking forward to this most of all. Last night we had some of the cauliflower from our garden and Waymond said he doesn't love cauliflower. So, I'll be finishing our part! It's tasty. I had some today at lunch with hummus. Actually today at lunch I also had beets from the ol' garden. I roasted them last night, peeled them and popped them in the fridge and ate them cold this afternoon. They were SO tasty. We actually had two different kinds, red and golden. I don't think I've ever had golden beets. They taste the same, but they don't stain your hands as you are peeling off the skin which is very lovely.
My good friend brought me some Rainier cherries from the Farmer's Market on Saturday. I took this picture before Waymond & I ate them all. They were tasty! Rainier cherries aren't as sweet as bing cherries, but they are so tasty. They actually remind me of my friend Cindy who lives in KC, but grew up in Oregon. She used to talk about these and now I know the goodness.
Here's a great shot of one of our onions. I'm trying to get a comparison shot here with my thumb, but I'm not sure it's working. Any who some of our onions are getting pretty wide in diameter! I'm not really sure when to harvest these. I think someone told me when the green tops start to wilt and die. I should look that one up, but these still need to grow.
Our squash has exploded in the last couple of days. Its about to take over the entire garden and there are just two plants. The yellow flowers are so beautiful. However I'm afraid the squash leaves are going to over take our bell pepper plant. I'm really pulling for the pepper plant. It has several blooms on it and I've been really careful when I water to get the base of the plant so the blooms don't fall off too soon. Squash is so aggressive!

It's hard to get a side view since they are at the bottom of a large trash can! Since this is the first time I have done this I don't know how tall I am suppose to let them get before we add more dirt. I guess I'll look online again.
Here's a lovely picture of me with our cauliflower. It got so big really fast. I had Waymond cut it tonight. I'm very excited about having some tomorrow with hummus! (and yes mom the weather is still chilly enough that I have to garden in a jacket. I actually have a long sleeve shirt and a short sleeve shirt on under the jacket. You will notice in the next picture that Waymond is just fine in a t-shirt.)
Our sweet peas are doing well. We've had a bit of wind lately and because we didn't have anything for them to grow on they fell a bit. We put twine on the fence this evening. Hopefully they will take to it. There are a bunch of blooms! I am looking forward to a nice bouquet in my dinning room soonish!
I was in real doubt that our sweet potato vines were going to make it. They looked pretty shabby when we finally got them in the mail. I planted them right away. A few of them did die, but at least half have survived. I think there are other vines wildly growing in that area, but I don't want to pull them up because I'm just not sure - they could be the sweet potatoes. They all have the same shape of leaf.
I also have my first Sweet Pea flower! Woo Hoo!! I love the smell of Sweet Peas. When we first moved to Tacoma our friends the Noonan's were already here. As a nice "welcome" Alexis brought over a bouquet of Sweet Peas from the Tacoma Farmer's Market. Our living room in our apartment smelt so good! I'm hopping our plants will produce a mass quantity of Sweet Peas. However I did read on the internet that the pods are VERY poisonous. We'll have to keep an eye out for the pods, but I figure I'm going to cut all the flowers that develop so there won't be a big change of a pod developing!
