Pizza

I'm not really a lover of pizza, I'm not sure why its just not my favorite. But I have found a great way to make a home made pizza. We occasionally will make pizza at home and getting the crust done well is hard. The last two times I cooked the pizza in my cast iron skillet and it turned out beautiful! I just make sure the bottom of the skillet has oil then I stretch out my crust and fit it in the pan. I push a bit of the crust up the sides, then I put the sauce on, toppings and then cheese. 400 degree oven. The crust is thick, but brown. It's real nice. Just thought I'd share.

Veggie Garden cont.

This last weekend I got a few plants for our garden. I went to the Proctor Farmer's Market and got snap peas, cabbage & romaine lettuce plants (all for $4). I got them in the ground that afternoon. I also picked up some onions. I got some flowers & hostas for the backyard, too. Our plan for next year is to put two blueberry bushes in the front yard. We want to replace the tiny scrubs that are there now. I'll get some pictures on the new beginnings!

Leigh's Dad

Just to keep everyone up to date. My dad for sure has lung cancer and had a test done last week to see where else it had spread. We knew it spread to his small intestine. From the test the oncologist knows he has a bit more in his small intestine, a bit on his right femur, right hip and a bit on one of his vertebra in his back. They are going to start radiation treatment on his lung asap and will do a mix of radiation and Chemo on the rest. Please be praying for him and my mom. The doctor seemed pretty positive that the treatment could help. But with God all things are possible!!

Funny

I thought this cartoon was so funny. I grew up playing Legos with my brothers and now my nephews have those Legos and love them.

Happy #10

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary yesterday. My lovely husband brought me flowers at work and had lunch with me. Then after work we headed to Seattle and had the most wonderful Indian food at Taste of India. They have the best Chai and I got their recipe to make it at home. We each had our left overs this afternoon for lunch! mmmmmmm

Veggie Garden start

However cool & rainy, we had to get going on our veggie garden. Here's a few pics of our work. Our friends Christine (pictured) and Sam will be co-gardening with us this year! We figured between the four of us we could make sure the weeds were under control, and watering & harvesting would be easier. And, we are planting enough where four should have plenty of veggies this summer!

I wanted raised beds that looked OK in the back yard so we went with retaining wall blocks. We have two beds, one by the garage wall so we can prop up some lattice for our climbing veggies and then the bigger bed for all the others.














































Our dirt will go in at some point this week.

On our way home

My dad is now out of the hospital and we are on our way back to Tacoma. One nice thing about the trip was seeing family. Here's a great shot of our nephews & niece with us.

Saturday Fun

Here's how our Saturday went down:















After a morning at worship band practice my lovely husband power washed our house and walkways. The worst part was that it was raining & snowing the entire time. I finally had to come in while he finished up the front side of the house. My toes and fingers were frozen! I got to be the hose girl for most of the time, faithfully moving the power washer around & making sure the hose didn't crimp. I had a cup of tea while he finished the front. No more moss for the Hamptons! And, I got to wear my Christmas rain boots all day (I looked so good)!

NCC

OSU

Did you see how close OSU was at going to the Sweet Sixteen? Great game. I didn't pick them on my bracket to go on, but would have loved to see them go. Maybe next year! I wish we had cable just for this time of year because I'm not really good at listening to sports on the radio like Waymond is.

Waymond and I were talking last night about how since we no longer live in the Big 12 area we find ourselves routing for Big 12 teams we would have never before. Somehow we both would have loved to see Texas beat Duke, but I think it's the ONLY time I've been on the side of Texas. When you are born and bread in Oklahoma, you just don't route for Texas until you live in Tacoma and you want to see the Big 12 do well.

Go OU! They are playing amazing they could pull it off!

I love college basketball, such a great time of year!

A Saturday without rain

We finally had a Saturday free and it wasn't raining! We went to breakfast at Marcia's Silver Spoon (pronounced Marsha's). The portions at this place are so huge. Waymond & I shared breakfast. I know what you are thinking, those of you that personally know Waymond, but yes their portions are that big that Waymond was willing to share with me. We got the scrabble and we both ate on it, both had it for lunch and there is probably an evening snack size left in the fridge. I'm not kidding! HUGE! And, it was $9.99!

After breakfast we went to the UPS (the university, not the shipping company) Flea Market they have every year. We made some amazing purchases and spent $6. A pretty frugal day so far. We purchased a really nice baseball glove, an electronic Yahtzee game (ours finally died), blocks & lincoln logs for our small group kids who play in our basement & a tie for Waymond. The tie is awesome probably worn mainly in the 70's but not completely dated.

After the Flea Market Waymond needed a coffee. To make a long story short we went to Home Depot next for a few yard things and weeded, mulched, & trimmed up the yard and beds. Waymond also did some prep for our new veggie garden that's going in the back yard. I'm completely stoked about that and hopefully next weekend will be rain free so we can get that put in.

After our romp in the yard we came in and watched the end of the OU Michigan game. And, then updated our brackets. My bracket is looking pretty good, but not good enough to go to Vegas next year with my 401(k) if you know what I mean.

Now it's off to make a little dinner, unless Waymond wants to polish off our breakfast!

the Rain

The rains have replaced the snow, I'm no meteorologist, but I'm guessing that it's just gotten warmer. It doesn't really feel warmer, but it's not snowing. We actually had a pretty big sun break this morning.

We finally got our $40 coupon from the government yesterday for a converter box. We went to Best Buy and picked up the only one they had. Waymond set it up last night in hopes we would get CBS and be able to watch the NCAA basketball tourament. Sadly we got NBC, Fox and several PBS stations. Without the box we have Fox & PBS which is fine, but now we have NBC. Now we are trying to decide if we are going to take the box back and try for a more expensive one where we could possibly get CBS. Thank goodness for the internet. We'll both be on ncaa.com!
