Garage sales

I've been looking for some girl toys for our PreK-K class at church. So, since Ermias is in the class I had him go with me to some garage sales on Saturday. After going to two he said, "Mom can we stop for some coffee." I just laughed and pulled into the nearest Starbucks (I also needed to use their WiFi so it was a win-win situation all around).

While we were standing in the line (that was to the door) Ermias struck up a conversation with the kid behind him with a Star Wars shirt on. Ermias had his Avengers shirt on so they talked about their favorite Star Wars guys and Avengers guys. This kid can (and will) talk to anyone! We are working on stranger danger.

Once we got closer to the front of the line Ermias started eyeing the pastry case. He said, "Mom, could we get a little something with our coffee?" (I'm not kidding) He tried to talk me into a piece of cake (at 9:45am), then a muffin with icing, lemon pound cake with icing. I suggested a donut that he could eat half of and he agreed. He shared the other half with Waymond when we got home.

And, we came home with some great books and pink legos! Plus some school uniform shirts for Ermias.

He's getting pretty good at spotting garage sales, but he thinks that a house with a realtor sign is having a garage sale. I tried to explain that they are selling the actual house. He said, "so the house is the garage sale?" Kind of.

Mr. Science

Isayas' class is studying weather and on the first day he came home super excited. He had a baggie of things to show me. He showed me how to blow around the cotton ball with a straw.

He also had a balloon in his bag. He went inside and made a paper airplane and asked me to help him tape the balloon on to the top. Then he blew up the balloon and threw the airplane.

This went on for a long time. He loves school! And he has a great teacher this year, which is super helpful!!

Lion & Gazelle

The boys were wrestling around the other day and I heard one of them say, "I'm a lion and you are my gazelle." And, then he would pounce. 

Time Out

We had a night out, alone! Sometimes you just need a time out.

We went to a restaurant that had actual menus. We had some yummy Italian food with lots of cheese!

The boys were grossed out when we showed them the leftovers the next day...all that cheese.

Then we walked down the street to Starbucks for a coffee and dessert. I love fall drinks at Starbucks - Salted Caramel and Pumpkin Spice, yes and yes!!

However I did get a hot chocolate because I'm still not sleeping well and I've given up caffeine mostly and especially in the evening.

I look tired. Although Waymond said it's a good picture of me, I think he was just being a nice husband! Plus he was having a nice time without kids!

Silly String

Ermias got some cans of silly string at a birthday party and the boys were intrigued and a little grossed out at first. Then they thought it was the most amazing this ever.

They could have gone through fifty cans, but thankfully we just had two!!

Lesson #2

This week was swimming lesson number two!

Since the first lesson Waymond hasn't stopped telling the boys that their only job at swimming lessons is to keep their eyes and ears on the teacher and do whatever she says. It's just that the boys get so excited about being in a huge pool - that's heated!

When Waymond got the boys to the lesson he talked to the teacher and told her what he's been telling the boys. She said, "thank you!"

Ermias floated on his back and he was pumped about it!

We might have to join the YMCA just so the boys can swim or stay in a hotel every couple of months!!

Jobs

A kindergardener's job is just never done! Ermias had to refill the toilet paper yesterday after school.

Honestly, this job has helped him count. He goes to the basement and counts out how many rolls he needs and then brings them up. Sometimes it takes him a couple of trips to get the right amount, but he is getting much better. Yesterday he brought all of them the first time!

As you can tell from the background the painting has started in the bathroom! We are almost done (and by we I mean Waymond - he's done it all)!

One more

Just wanted to post one more photo we took last night. It makes me look a bit more pregnant instead of cubby!

This is me fully in maternity gear! So strange to wear maternity jeans. I'm so used to buttons, zippers and bulk at the front and now it's replaced with spandex! It's going to take some time to get used to it all.

19 weeks

I'm going to be really honest, I've kind of lost track of exactly how far along I am. I think I'm 19 weeks this week!

I do know I am due in February, I figure that's the most important thing to remember!

This isn't the best picture (in my opinion), but gives you an idea that I'm getting bigger! Although I still feel like I just look fat in some shirts!

I bought a pair of maternity jeans today. I've been using a hair tie to give me a bit more space with my regular jeans and it's been working fantastically. I'm just not sure how much longer it will work.

I've been tossing some ideas around in my head for revamping t-shirts to wear. I'm hoping Waymond will let me have a Large t-shirt or two to experiment with.

Nesting

I guess this is what "nesting" looks like when your husband used to remodel houses professionally.

I picked up a can of Kilz paint to "freshen" up the bathroom. I thought I would pick a nice color and then paint the bathroom after a coat or two of the Kilz. Waymond (who has wanted to do something with this bathroom for years) took it and ran!

The paint is scheduled for this week, but now we have a new light fixture, faucet, hardware and the mirror got an update!

He really wanted to get a new sink and countertops, but it really wasn't in the ol' budget!

The nursery is next. Waymond is hunting down the perfect poster to start the decorating process!

The boys, needless to say, have enjoyed helping Waymond with the bathroom. First thing, Isayas went through the tool bag and checked out every tool.

Ermias took the step stool all around the house "fixing" things (although he just had a flashlight).

Isayas settled on the tape measure out of the tool bag and measured everything, including himself. In the picture he's figuring out how far the chair is from the sidebar.

They "helped" as Waymond installed the new faucet! They are interested in everything, especially when tools are involved. Maybe one of them will be a plumber someday!!

Anything with wheels

Here's Ermias trying some friend's roller blades. He'll pretty much try anything that could possibly cause harm to his body!

Homework already

It's the first full week of school and homework has already begun. Nothing too difficult, but sometimes the difficult part is just sitting down to do it! What, I have to get off my bike and come in early for homework?

Since Isayas has math homework sent home every day, we've come up with some homework for Ermias so he's not "left out!" In Kindergarden homework is exciting and Ermias would feel left out.

We'll see how long they get to sit at the same table to do their work. They are more interested in what the other one is doing. Oh how they are normal boys!!

A drum-roll please...

Here she is! And, yes, I said she. We had our ultrasound this afternoon and the doctor had no doubts that we are having a girl. A health (a bit big for her age) girl.

The doctor kept saying, "she's measuring big for your dates." As he was measuring her arms and legs. And he kept confirming my last period. Then he said, "well, you two aren't small people." And, I take that to mean we are tall!

The doctor tried to get a really good profile picture for us at the end, but she kept moving her head. So, this one was the best he could do!

The boys are excited, but I told them they had to start referring to the baby as a she instead of a he. Ermias said he wasn't sure he could do that. However, he was the one who thought we were having a girl first. He just got used to the idea of having another brother.

I asked them if they thought she would still play cars with them. They both thought about it and answered, "yes." And, I'm sure she will.

Isayas said on the car ride home, "maybe in two years we'll have another baby and it will be a boy." I didn't respond...that's a little too close to the ol' 40th birthday for my liking!
