Yesterday was Waymond's birthday. We celebrated with a few friends at our house grilling burgers. To make a long story short Waymond's birthday ended in the ER last night. He started having pains in his jaw as he was grilling and when he would try to eat the pain would get worse and he'd have to spit out the food. (You know the pain had to be sever if Waymond is spitting out food!) His face was swollen a bit under one of his side burns. After everyone left we decided that if something was infected we should get it looked at, so off to the ER we went.
After waiting two hours we saw the doctor. Waymond explained everything to the doctor and he said you have a stone in your saliva gland. Similar to a kidney stone. Bad news is like a kidney stone it has to pass. The best thing is lemons so another 45 minutes went by and the doctor and the nurse were back with a cup of lemon slices and info. Apparently sucking on the lemons makes your saliva gland work overtime and it will then pass the stone. After we got home last night - well this morning Waymond got to work eating four lemon slices. I went to bed!
Everyone at the ER was so nice and wishing Waymond a happy birthday. The nurse helping us said she hadn't ever heard of this - which is amazing that we "happened" to get a doctor who could nail it on the head the first time. Divine intervention!
This morning he was still in pain and was going to get some lemons and lemon candy on his way into work.
Last night at the ER we were laughing about the fact that Waymond cannot do anything normally. He doesn't break his arm or anything no he has a stone in his saliva gland. Who had ever heard about that?
